Some thoughts on maxilla:
Short maxillary vertical length (not forward growth), aka the so called desired compact midface is overrated and possibly not even a positive feature, more like a neutral one.
I’ve made this statement around several midface ratios and studies and their value in perceived male facial attractiveness:
- According to the article "Eye-Mouth-Eye Angle as a Good Indicator of Face Masculinization, Asymmetry, and Attractiveness (Homo sapiens)" by Danel and Pawlowski, the most attractive eye-mouth-eye angle for females is around 50.16°, while for males, it is around 47.68°. The study found that larger angles are generally associated with femininity and are considered attractive in females, while smaller angles are linked to masculinity.
- Based on the study Women’s Preferences for Men’s Facial Masculinity Trade-Off Accounts Revisited. Woman who perceive themselves as more attractive generally tend to prefer masculine faces (notice how the more masculine face the longer midface) and are less tolerant toward feminine male faces. All of this implies that feminine features of a man are interpreted as flaws. So longer midface wins again
- The point where long midface impacts healthy dentofacial structures and airways and represent a pathological cranial dystrophy pattern/adenoid face is where the facial attractiveness is destroyed obv.
- As a side note shorter midfaces are essential for niche appeal such as female gaze. But is this even a thing is under the question tbh.
